A creative heritage, an aesthetic vision, a timeless expression of beauty.
SANDRA CHOREMI.
A VISUAL ARTIST AND PHOTOGRAPHER.
Born in Athens and based between the Greek capital and the island of Paros, I am a photographer specializing in fine art prints, monoprints and commissioned pieces. United by my distinct vision, my creations emanate an aesthetic harmony, revealing a delicate sense of timeless grace.
From my Greek-Egyptian heritage to my upbringing in Athens, creativity has always been a constant companion. My artistic vision was passed down to me by my mother, an antique dealer with an impeccable eye. Growing up in exquisitely curated homes, surrounded by art and design, I developed an innate sense of aesthetics, which I seek to infuse in everything I create.
I studied Graphic and Interior Design, but it wasn’t until I published my cookbook, Sandra Loves, at the age of 50 that everything changed. Collaborating with a photographer and styling the food revealed my true calling: photography.
After attending photography workshops around the world, I enrolled at The Aegean Center, a fine arts institution in Paros, Greece. Here I had the privilege of being taught by the photographer John Pack. Under his mentorship, I delved into the realm of fine art photography, merging my graphic design knowledge with minimalist styling. This led to the creation of an 18-print series featuring elegant calla lilies in striking black and white—a significant milestone in my artistic journey.
It was during my time at the Aegean Center that I also learned the art of monoprinting under the guidance of Jane Morris Pack, John’s talented wife. Jane awakened an instinctive freedom in me, and the boundaries between photography and monoprints blurred as my artwork evolved into collages. This harmonious blend of mediums became a defining element of my artistic vision.
John and Jane have played instrumental roles in helping me find my destination—figuratively and literally. With their support, I am presenting my first exhibition in Paros this summer of 2023, showcasing a combination of photography and monoprints.
The wise advice given to me by a renowned art gallerist, whom I still hold dear, resonates deeply within me to this day: nurture your gaze by observing the beauty around you. Through my art, I invite you to see the world through my eyes and to discover the harmony that surrounds us. Together, let us celebrate the wonders of creativity and share in the joy of artistic expression.
THE STORY BEHIND MY LOGO
Centuries ago, Greek families would have their family crests crafted in France. I have inherited a beautiful collection of silver pieces from my father, Alexander, that are embellished with this emblem, proudly bearing our shared initials: AC.
Working with a graphic designer, we updated this heritage, transforming the crest into a contemporary and refined logo with subtle and minimalist lines. This symbol has become my monogram—an elegant signature embossed on my prints.
